The 2017 Starboard AtomIQ introduced the super slim concept: these thinner boards, combined with a short and wide outline, have a massive wind range. They’re controllable and manoeuvrable in high winds, and plane early in light winds.
The AtomIQ uses Starboard’s iSonic rocker profile. This rocker is the core ingredient for the AtomIQ’s blend of speed and control with an efficient, flying sensation. The AtomIQ’s profile is 10 cm thin in the mid-section to minimise excess volume, lower the board’s centre of gravity and shed excess volume for more control and a wider wind range.
The AtomIQs have extra deck dome just under the back feet for added comfort and grip.
The wide slim shape reduces to a narrow surface behind the back foot for improved speed and tighter jibes. Cut-aways allow for a crisper fin grip and improved top speed.
Double-layered contoured sponge pads use our new square grooving pattern for improved comfort.
The AtomIQs use a Power Box fin fitting.
Because of the innovative extra-thin shape concept, how you choose your AtomIQ size is important:
If you’re a progressing sailor, choose the AtomIQ that matches your current board’s volume. If you’re an advanced windsurfer, pick the AtomIQ that matches your current board’s width.
The 3DX construction is the more durable choice but the carbon is lighter and more responsive.
UltraCore Carbon is the lightest construction technology that uses Starboard’s proprietary sandwich core material that’s 30% stronger, 40% stiffer and 10% lighter than conventional PVC sandwich cores. The result are boards up to half a kilo lighter than average.
To minimise the flex between the rider’s back foot and the mast foot pressure, we’ve upgraded the UltraCore Carbon construction with two more Smart Carbon vectors on the deck.
Weights are +/- 5%, except for ASAP, Starlite, Starshot, ArmourTech and Inflatable technologies that are +/- 6%. Weights are estimates, use for indicative purposes only.
