Severne has made racing more affordable by introducing the stiffest aluminium race boom ever.
This breakthrough race boom design has been achieved through optimisation of wall thickness and a larger boom diameter towards the back.
The one piece monocoque body also utilises a large diameter tail-piece extending more than 700mm into the boom arms to maximise stiffness. Even at full extension there is over 500mm still inside the arm of the larger sizes to maintain ultimate performance.
The combined result is an aluminium race boom close to carbon in rigidity at a fraction of the cost.
Born through frustration with generic parts, Severne analysed every functional feature and current issues inherent in many boom front ends. The Severne Lockjaw addresses these issues with function, reliability and performance.
Unlike Severne’s competitors, Severne don’t use any aesthetic seams in their boom grip. This has the same philosophy as sail seams, the less the better.
“Our new boom grip is another step to creating a longer lasting, more reliable boom: every boom is gripped using a single, solid piece of EVA rather than gluing together small pieces of different colours can fall out, or lift. It’s a very similar approach to our sails – we only use seams where they’re necessary, and on a boom there is only 1 necessary join. Reliable.” BEN SEVERNE
No logos on front curve
Logos on outside of the curve (a traditional place to put them) will rub on the ground causing irreparable damage to your boom. We use a higher density area of grip to ensure lasting grip durability even in the harshest of rigging environments.
This profile brings the wide point further back in the boom, allowing the larger sails and deeper profiles but maintaining a comfortable grip position.
