Team QSW boss Neil Greentree is the first independent party to get a chance to review the ALL NEW North Power XT version 2.0 Series. Its been completely re-engineered from top to bottom with everything being improved from the excellent ratchet mechanism which has replaced all the tension springs (which suffer fatigue) to coil springs which don’t degrade in performance. The line configuration has been brilliantly re-engineered which 2 options for the line – One design for ‘in-line’ pulleys’ and Tushingham style eyelet sails, and a second for ‘cross pulley’ sails like Severne. Its handle, extension adjuster clip, and clew have also been redesigned for much easier and reliable use. It can also be purchased with North’s unique ‘Shox’ suspension system, or simply upgrade the standard XT later.

In conclusion, it poles apart from the version 1 and 100% reliable, 100% of the time. It is a little heavier than standard extensions but my view is a few grams extra is a very small price to pay for this excellently engineered extension – my conclusion 10/10!!
