Every element of the Enigma has been precision-engineered to eliminate unnecessary weight while maximizing structural integrity and performance. From the carbon tube construction to the refined tailpiece design, the Enigma embodies decades of racing and wave sailing experience distilled into the ultimate boom system.

HeadLock

The HeadLock represents not just an evolution but a redesign of the boom front end from first principles. Building on the legacy of the LockJaw that has defined SEVERNE booms for years, the HeadLock advances our core brand promise: lighter, stiffer, more responsive.

At the heart of the HeadLock is its unified design, seamlessly integrating the clamp and mast cup into a single NYCA construction. This engineering choice creates a direct connection between sailor and rig, eliminating flex and delivering instantaneous power transfer.

For racers seeking every performance advantage, the HeadLock SDM delivers a stiffness boost through its extended cup design and precision engineering. Wave sailors benefit from the HeadLock RDM’s optimized flex characteristics, offering the perfect balance of control and forgiveness when pushing the limits. Each discipline-specific design represents the pinnacle of performance for its intended use – a level of specialization unique to SEVERNE.

Every component has been meticulously re-engineered – from the hollow-point bolts to the weight-optimized lever system – resulting in a front end that’s up to 20% lighter while maintaining performance metrics. Red anodized spacers prevent overtightening while ensuring optimal clamping force, and improved socket design eliminates hinge spinning issues.

The HeadLock will perfectly complement the latest technologies such as DirectConnect, Xtended Range, and latest design principles to deliver the lightest, most responsive rig on the planet.

Stiffer: More direct transmission of power and control through an innovative single-piece design. The HeadLock replaces the traditional two-piece construction with an integrated single-piece NYCA component that eliminates flex points. Unlike conventional designs that require flexibility for installation, the HeadLock’s U-shaped design allows direct mounting without flexing the material, enabling the use of significantly stiffer materials throughout. This creates an unprecedented rigid connection between sailor and mast, delivering instantaneous power transfer and eliminating response lag that competitors’ designs cannot match.

Lighter: The HeadLock delivers a significant weight reduction compared to the LockJaw while increasing performance. Every component has been re-engineered for weight reduction, including innovative hollow-point bolts.

Functionality: Purpose-engineered for both race and wave performance with dedicated versions for each discipline. The race (SDM) version features a longer, thicker cup for maximum stiffness (8/10 stiffness index rating), while the wave (RDM) version offers a shorter, more tapered cup with enhanced flexibility (6/10 stiffness index rating). This targeted approach delivers optimal performance for each specific use case – a feature unique to Severne.
